Benna Keoghoe

As a Biologist and Registered Herbal Therapist with the Herbalist Association of Nova Scotia, Benna has a deep love for nature and our place as part of the natural world.

She is a 5th generation Nova Scotian with deep roots in the ecology and landscapes that she feels lucky to live with.

Benna has spent time travelling and volunteering in the Amazonian Peru, the UK, British Columbia and across Europe. She has appreciated finding special personal experiences in each of these places, giving her a sense of what is important when we travel responsibly.

She gained her herbal training through apprenticeship work in the fields and forest of Nova Scotia followed by one of North America’s most comprehensive programs at Pacific Rim College in British Columbia.

Since her graduation and return to Nova Scotia, Benna has operated a vibrant herbal clinic, created and taught many workshops along with a year long intensive herbal course. She grows her own herbs where possible and creates many herbal preparations for her family, friends and, on occasion, for sale.

Benna loves sharing herbs and nature time with her daughter. Teaching and sharing with the next generation brings her great joy. She firmly believes that Herbal Medicine can be a strong conduit to reunite humans to plants and the natural world in a way that has generally been forgotten. This alone can be an immensely healing experience for both human and nature itself. Once we have a sense of deeper connection with the earth, we tend to have a stronger sense of belonging and purpose, plus more drive to understand and protect the planet we live on.

This is where Benna’s passion lies and where she will facilitate you in this experience of Nova Scotia’s botanical life and story.
